Frequently asked questions
Getting started
What is Bastyn?
Bastyn is an independent trust layer for AI agents. It runs continuous behavioural testing, monitors for drift in production, classifies risk under the EU AI Act, and issues a public, tiered trust certification — so the people relying on an agent are not depending on the agent author's own benchmarks.
Why does independent certification matter?
When the team building an agent is also the team grading it, the benchmarks reflect the tests they chose to run — not the behaviours they missed, the regressions they introduced, or how the agent acts under pressure. Independent, continuous attestation removes that conflict of interest, which is exactly what regulators, risk owners and customers increasingly ask for.
Certification
How do I certify an AI agent with Bastyn?
Connect your agent or its repository, and Bastyn runs a five-stage pipeline: intake (cloning and static analysis), AI-generated test planning, test execution, risk scoring against the EU AI Act and our tiered framework, and finally an attestation report. When the run completes you receive a trust score, line-level findings, and a badge you can publish.
What does Bastyn actually test for?
Bastyn tests agent behaviour, not just code. That includes capability coverage, regressions, behaviour under adversarial conditions, and security issues surfaced by SAST and dependency analysis. Findings are tied to a specific file and agent trace so they are reproducible rather than a single opaque score.
EU AI Act & compliance
How does Bastyn help with EU AI Act compliance?
Bastyn classifies your agent into the right EU AI Act risk tier and gathers evidence continuously — testing records, documented limitations, and logs you can produce on request. The output maps directly to what regulators want to see: what you tested and what you found, not just a statement that the system is safe.
What is behavioural drift and how is it caught?
Behavioural drift is the slow divergence between how an agent behaved when it was certified and how it behaves today, caused by model updates, changing inputs and dependency upgrades. Because it rarely throws an error, Bastyn catches it through continuous behavioural testing rather than a one-off launch-day score, so regressions surface before users hit them.
Trust badge
What is the Bastyn trust badge?
The trust badge is a public, tiered attestation — Bronze, Silver or Gold — that reflects testing depth and trust score. Anyone can check it at a glance, every badge links to the underlying evidence, and badges expire and must be re-earned so they always reflect current behaviour rather than a historical snapshot.
Where can I display the trust badge?
You can embed the badge wherever your agent lives — a product page, marketplace listing, documentation or README. It links back to the live attestation, so visitors can verify the agent's current trust posture rather than taking a static image on trust.
Pricing & access
Can I try Bastyn for free?
Yes. You can start a free certification run on your own AI agent with no credit card required. Paid plans cover internal, customer-facing and regulated agents, billed annually or as you go.
